Anne Robinson
Episode #7 Analytic Stories™

THE RELIANCE ON HISTORICAL DATA IS USELESS IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN

For Anne Robinson, supply chain and analytics go hand-in-hand. You have to use your intuition, along with your mathematical modeling to know if information is relevant. (7:15)

KEY POINTS

  • Understand your data (where is it, what does it look like), what drives your supply chain, and what makes your supply chain critical to your success. You have to understand each portion of your supply chain and how it affects marketing, finance, and other areas of the business.  (3:10)
  • Your supply chain is a chain - it has a front, middle and back. You can’t solve each problem or portion individually. If you do, you will miss the opportunity to see the best thing for the supply chain. (4:40)
  • Realize you have a much greater capacity for change than you realize. Your approach to the challenge of a change is what’s important. (12:00)
  • Interpretable Analytics has grown in the last several years. Understanding how the analytics are actually working for you in context of the data going into a model. (16:50)
  • Educational programs are missing the science of change management -- understand the psychology of change, know your audience and how they are affected by the change. Change management complements an analytics background and provides the power to drive value of the application of analytics (20:00)
  • Be an analytical storyteller. Being able to understand the data and being able to tell the story in the context of your business, the better value and improvement you get. (23:35)
