Mike Kravec
Episode #6 Analytic Stories™

ADJUST YOUR THINKING FROM THE BIG INITIATIVE TO THE SMALLER INITIATIVE.

By starting small and making mistakes, Mike Kravec believes you are able to move forward and make adoption happen. (3:30).

Recognize when you don’t hit the mark and course correct. Mistakes are sometimes necessary to make things happen. (6:55)

Here are specific idea Mike had that you can work on right away:

KEY POINTS

  • Don’t look at the end goal, but look at what things will get you to the end goal. Create measurements and analytics to prove causation. (9:50)
  • Many people look at a system and get analysis paralysis when thinking how to do a “big thing” instead of looking at a smaller, quick-use case. Going in increments has value. (14:30)
  • Make sure you use the right size chunk to try and solve the right problem. Make sure you use the right measure and dimensions to track it. (23:00)
  • The most useful skill you have is questioning! Are you asking the right questions at the right time? Are you asking the right questions to the right people? (25:00)
  • Some requirements are necessary, and some are negotiable -- so make sure you understand how they tie to the external world. (25:00)

WHICH OF THESE IDEAS ARE YOU GOING TO WORK ON RIGHT AWAY?
